Warning for Macaw Buyers – Stolen Pair of Hyacinth Macaws – A newcomer to the bird industry recently fell victim to fraud after purchasing a pair of Hyacinth Macaws from a QLD Seller, only to have them stolen back. Fortuantely, the owner learned about AvianPro’s DNA Profiling service from the QLD CIB (criminal investigation branch) and collected feathers from the aviary floor. The samples were sent to AvianPro for DNA analysis, and the birds DNA profiles have now been registered as stolen in the National DNA Database. Thanks to this DNA profiling, it is only a matter of time before these Hyacinth Macaws and any future offspring – are identified and recovered. Remember to protect yourself when purchasing valuable birds, perform a “Buyers Protection” search with AvianPro.

“Thanks to AvianPro’s DNA Profiling service, my stolen blue & gold macaw (Roxie) was returned to me 3 months later, after being sold to an unexpecting buyer”
My African Grey Parrot, “Zac,” used to live on our back veranda in a sturdy, secure cage. However, it wasn’t strong enough to withstand a thief who broke in and stole my beloved Zac. Unfortunately, he wasn’t microchipped or fitted with a leg identification ring, making it difficult to distinguish him from other African Grey Parrots. A friend told me about DNA profiling services offered by AvianPro, so I reached out to them. They advised me to create a DNA profile for Zac using the many feathers I had collected. Thanks to AvianPro, Zac’s DNA profile is now recorded as stolen in the National DNA Database. I hold onto hope that one day we will be reunited—it’s just a matter of time.
